About the Event
Join us for an exciting evening with international poets and spoken word artists in celebration of Black History Month in the UK and with a particular focus on black female writers both upcoming and established showcasing their amazing gifts.
Guests include the phenomenal Siam Hurlock-Noel of Rubies Red, from the USA SouLah The Legend and with recent Poetry / Spoken Word chart success under her belt, Lorraine Clarke-McGhie.
These, along with some of London's rising artists, bring their unique take on current events and other issues that have touched their hearts and drawn them to write. We'll also be sharing and remembering some of our favourite work from other black female poets and wordsmiths.
All of this will be followed by an opportunity for others who have attended to share their own composition or another artist's work.
The event is working in conjunction with the international book project 'Letters To My Younger Self.' This project is working with women's groups and individuals around the world to collect themed letters filled with advice and love to their younger self.
