About the Event

Maya Angelou said, "I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

You are invited to join like-minded women to pour parts of your life into your poems and to find ways of making others 'feel' during this 4-weekworkshop. Over the course of four weeks, you will have the opportunity to explore the form and feelings that help to shape your ideas in an interesting way. You will look at traditional and contemporary female poets to help inform your own work and spend time crafting pieces that can be shared in the class, with feedback being given.

You will make use of stimuli like memory, life experiences and objects and learn about technique, imagery and poetic language to develop your work.

This workshop is suitable for both new and experienced writers. You will receive a workbook to keep your pieces in and constructive feedback on your poems designed to be both positive and useful within a supportive group.

Poetry forms looked at will include:

Rhymed Poetry, Free Verse, Narrative Poetry, Solliquies, Lyric Poetry, Odes and Sonnets
